A lip scrub is helpful in removing dead skin cells from lips after being chapped during these long winter months. It will leave your lips kissable soft, and if you wear lipstick/tint, help to keep your color longer (so I’ve heard). This recipe is so basic it is downright silly, using ingredients you have in your kitchen.
Essentially all you need is an oil and an exfolliant, like sugar. I prefer almond oil and brown sugar but you can use olive oil, coconut oil…whatever you like. You can also use white sugar or even salt but remember you will be tasting this (and salt will burn on cracked skin!). Use 1 tablespoon of oil to 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. (If using coconut oil you will want to warm it to liquid under warm water or microwave for a few seconds-not too hot!) Mix well. Rub in a circular motion on lips and rinse with a warm washcloth. Easy Peasy!
This is basic. Here is a great moisturizing Honey Lip Scrub:
1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil, warmed to liquid 1 Tablespoon raw, local honey 2 teaspoons brown sugar Mix oil & honey well. Add sugar. Can be kept in jar in fridge for 2-4 weeks (warm small amount to room temp before using.) Use as directed above.
Follow up with a great natural lipbalm to keep your kisser moisturized all day!
