My laryngitis I acquired from not taking care of myself and staying hydrated over the weekend, still continues to be ugly…but with a new twist. I now seem to have inadvertently put myself into a detox! Not the best timing…oops.
I have been feeling a bit congested for a few weeks and I have been eating junk food (which for me is high amounts of gluten and sugar). When laryngitis struck I started a quick process of herbal teas, broths, water, supplements, and essential oils…suddenly I am coughing up copious amounts of ugly stuff. Really gross, I know, and I seriously didn’t know it was in there. How do I know it’s a detox and not, say, bronchitis? I don’t have a fever. I feel worn out. My tummy is off. I’m cloudy headed and can’t concentrate and I’ve been having an off and on mild headache. Not to get to gross…but the stuff I’m coughing up also reminds me of the acupuncture detox I had years ago.
Here is everything I’ve been doing:
Thieves honey bombs- my raw honey with drops of Thieves and lemon essential oils
Copaiba gargle – 1 cup warm water, with tsp salt, and drop of copaiba (like gargling with pine salt water…not my favorite but great anti-inflammatory)
Ginger kombucha with Ninxgia red- every morning. 1 ounce of each
Bone broth with garlic, cayenne, and pepper during the day
Fire cider on my salad with leftover pickled veggies from it (mostly onion & garlic) at dinner
My linden peace tea with honey
Diffusing with RC. Alternated with Lavender & Peppermint.
When I started rubbing Thieves on my neck over my glands, in the evening and morning things started moving. Just a drop rubbed in with my hands (and bonus it smells Christmasy). Tonight I’m thinking an epsom salt bath is in order to pull the rest of this gunk out of my system asap…I have too many fun family things planned for this weekend to sit around feeling punky!
I mentioned my tummy has felt off. So I put some Digize on my abdomen. This great blend contains fennel (think gripe water for babies) and smells like licorice. I have used it on my toddler when he had gas pains and it worked wonderfully. Both Digize and Copaiba are in my favorite gift, the starter kit. Copaiba is a great anti-inflammatory and tends to magnify the benefits of whatever oil it is paired with.
This “accidental” detox has urged me to think about doing a purposeful one, once 2017 starts. Do you have any plans yet for starting 2017 off on the right foot? #detox #laryngitis #essentialoils #herbs #naturalhome #crunchymom #2017 #resolutions
